Senior Services Coordination

Trained social workers help older adults maintain independence and basic needs. Using our agency services as well as referrals to local resources, a plan of service is developed, implemented and supervised by staff. When appropriate, in home case assessments are provided to determine needed services. There is no fee. For additional information, call 810-767-5922 and ask for Lynda.

Nutrition Programs

Kosher mobile meals are available Monday through Friday to homebound senior adults. Hot and cold meals are delivered to homes by Genesee County Community Action Agency. For those more mobile, hot kosher meals are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (except Jewish and general holidays) at noon at our congregate meal site at Temple Beth El (G-5150 Calkins Rd., Flint). Senior Friendship Club

Programs are planned for persons attending the (three day a week) congregate lunch program. Speakers, health education, entertainers, field trips and other social programs follow the served lunch at the Temple Beth El meal site (G-5150 Calkins Rd., Flint). Educational & Cultural Enrichment

Yiddish Culture Club

Meetings bring participants together to share stories, poems, films and jokes in Yiddish, as well as refresh their skills in speaking and reading the language. For additional information, call 810-767-5922 and ask for Carol.

Transportation Services

Transportation for senior adults (and persons with disabilities) is provided for errands, local medical appointments, shopping and to the Congregate Lunch Program. Rides are available Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except Jewish and general holidays. Suggested donation: $3 round-trip in Flint and near suburbs; $5 round-trip in outlying areas of Genesee County; $2 round-trip to Congregate Lunch. Rides must be scheduled in advance by calling 810-767-5922. First time riders call 810-767-5922 and ask for Lynda.

H.E.A.R.
(Hearing Ears Are Reassuring)

This telephone reassurance services provides phone calls by volunteers seven days a week to help assure safety and alleviate loneliness in older adults in the Jewish Community. For additional information, call 810-767-5922 and ask for Yuliya.

Friendly Visitor

A program for Jewish nursing home residents, older adults and those homebound in which volunteers visit and provide friendly conversation. For additional information, call 810-767-5922 and ask for Yuliya.
