Harris Checkerspot Chlosyne harrisii larva on Flat-topped Asters in Muskegon County seen by Ronda Spink and Linda, May 24, 2005:

Cricket caught by a very large Hairy Spider on Wild Lupine in Allegan County, May 26, 2005:

Frosted Elfin Incisalia irus was spotted by Ruth Harder and Linda on May 26, 2005 in Allegan County, nectaring on the Wild Lupine.

Harvester Feniseca tarquinius were laying eggs in the Wooly Aphids on Black Alder trees in Newago County, seen by Ronda Spink and Linda on May 24, 2005. Many eggs and larvae (of several sizes) were seen under and among the aphids.

This Baltimore Chrysalis was formed on May 14, 2005. It was found in Van Raalte Park near Holland in Ottawa County:

Ronda, Ruth Harder and Linda found this Pine Elfin on May 5 in Muskegon on Bossett Road.

Ronda Spink and Linda found Baltimore Checkerspot larvae Euphydryas phaeton on May 9, 2005, at Van Raalte Park in Holland (Ottawa County). There were over ten larva on the leaves of English Plantain and on small Ash trees. The trees were all about 4-5 feet tall. The ones on the ash looked like they were ready to molt for the last time. They did, however, also eat the leaves of the Ash. The Baltimore also uses Turtlehead for a host plant. One of the ones that Linda took home to raise formed the "J" shape and turned into a chrysalis the next day.

Also on May 9 Ronda and Linda found Olympia Marbles Euchloe olympia flying in Allegan. There also was a Duskywing which looks like a Sleepy Duskywing Erynnis brizo. The Sleepy was on an oak leaf in an area of oaks, birdfoot violet and blueberry.
