My Coil In Operation
This picture shows the first high power (~1000
watts) run of my coil. The arcs to the right are grounding to the concrete
wall of my basement, 24" from the toroid and partly hidden behind the furnace
(yeah, I know, I need a bigger basement). The corona discharge to the left
shows a very faint streamer connecting with a small fluorescent tube. The
static gap (with eight gaps here) can be seen firing at the bottom of the
picture.
This is my coil operating in Helen's back yard
in Syracuse, NY on the evening of 9/3/99. They are kinda faint in this
picture, but on the right side you can just make out some arcs striking
an ungrounded (sitting on asphalt) aluminum ladder, about three feet away
from the toroid.
Here is a shot of the coil running next to Ken's
wood pile in the boonies south of Rochester, NY, 9/4/99. It's a little
blurry, and the corona does not show up very well, but the streamers were
really whipping around and pushing out to about three and a half feet.
